Paroo Contact Children’s Mobile aims to advance the wellbeing of isolated children and families in defined remote areas of northwest NSW and southwest Queensland.
Playgroup or play sessions are at the foundation of the Mobile’s service delivery model, bringing children and families together, utilising as regular venues, station homesteads (with surrounding families travelling to this location) and community facilities such as halls and parks. A range of approaches complement the Mobile’s play sessions such as home visits, child and family activity days at community gatherings or events, family and parenting supports, incorporating visiting specialised programs related to children and families at sessions and co-ordinating schedules to coincide with others such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service clinics.
Children’s equipment is stored in NSW and Queensland for use within programs and a well equipped base is maintained at Wanaaring (NSW). The Wanaaring facility and its attractive grounds are available for use for small meetings, training events, child and family programs. Self-contained accommodation is also available for visiting professionals who require overnight, weekly or long-term regular stay options.
